About Me
MARCCELA MORENO
I’m a Brazilian filmmaker from Salvador, Bahia, based in Berlin since 2022 but with airborne roots that can be planted anywhere. Prior to my arrival in the city, I have lived in Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and even had a stint in a small village in Germany's east countryside. This wandering nature comes from my unquenching curiosity about people, places, and storytelling, afterall, stories are how we make sense of this world. Film and audiovisual have been my greatest passions for over two decades, as their ability to combine multiple art forms and languages are pure curiosity manifested.

As a director and writer, I have made short films, such the hybrid film-essay THE LOUDEST SILENCE, a poetic reflexion on rape culture and gender violence, that has gone to over 20 festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as Festival de Tiradentes (BR), Festival de Málaga (ES) and Women Make Waves (Tawain), music videos and book trailers. At the moment, I am working on the post-production of my first short-film made in Germany, SHEMIRA, a fantastical imagination on grief on the backdrop of Jewish bereavement rituals, and writing my first feature-film, UNBEFRISTET, a romantic dramedy set on the growling housing crisis placating Berlin (and the whole world, honestly).

At the end of 2022, I started working as one of the coordinators of EFM/Berlinale Toolbox Programmes, a market preparation initiative aimed at producers from the Global South and/or members of equity seeking groups. The 2025 edition marks my 3rd consecutive collaboration with this programme, whose work scope entails the organisation of online workshops on topics such as funding, international co-production, packaging, and much more, as well offering onsite networking opportunities. Before moving to Berlin, I worked for 3 years as a dramaturgy specialist for serialised content at Globo, Latin America’s biggest media conglomerate. My work consisted of analysing and curating new projects for the executives to greenlight and accompany the greenlit series throughout development, offering feedback to the writers room via deep, technical analysis on character arch and plot development.

I am a well-rounded film professional, shaped by both creative and industry work and my international experience has made me into an adaptive, collaborative and quick learning team-member.
